This weekend Jeremy and I were blessed to be able to attend a conference near Winston. Jeremy spoke for 3 sessions and I led one breakout for the women. A night without the boys, Bojangles at 10 pm, and time with friends…what more could you ask for?
I wanted to share a part of my speaking notes to encourage you, but also to challenge you once more to read Grace for the Good Girl. That book helped formulate my thoughts this weekend. Here they are…in raw, shortened form:
-All women hide, whether it’s behind spiritual disciplines, comfort zones, or our definitions of good.
-Adam and Eve hid when they believed the “If/then” statements of Satan and ate the fruit (and I still believe those lies…If I read my Bible for 3 hours a day, then God will love me, etc.).
-God came, drew them out, then offered mercy through a sacrifice and grace through animal coverings.
-Jesus came, offered mercy on the cross and grace through the resurrection.
-And now, girls, I can come out of hiding, because Jesus loves me and declares me lovely. There is nothing for me to earn or prove.
I’m thankful for the time I had with Jeremy this weekend. I’m thankful for the amazing women I met and good friends I reconnected with. I’m also thankful for the wisdom of Emily Freeman and her book Grace for the Good Girl. Hope you will join me in reading it!
