My Red Sea

Imagine Moses and the children of Israel standing before the Red Sea and hearing the Egyptians approaching.  I’m not sure what you would have done, but me, I would have immediately began forming a plan.  Some friends and I would have frantically started looking for something that would work to build a makeshift boat.  There would be a plan.  Action would HAVE to be taken; no waiting around.

I kinda think Moses was the same way.  Remember him striking the rock when the people cried out for water.  Yep, a fixer, a planner, how’s this gonna work out…my kinda guy.

But there, at the Red Sea that day with danger approaching, God spoke through Moses.  And today, so many years later, He says the same thing to me.

And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:13,14)

Did you catch that? Stand firm. Be silent.  Those are not exactly the words I like to hear, especially when there’s a “Red Sea” in front of me.  Whether today my “Red Sea” is parenting the boys or if tomorrow it’s waiting on this adoption, God has called me to this.  He has put this into the tapestry of my life for a reason.

I can stand firm and be silent.  He will make a way.
